Pop Myosotis Series
Zipatone, Rubylith, Leroy pens. When I began working as a cartographer fresh out of college, dotted lines were inked by hand—dot by dot— onto frosted mylar. Halftones were made in the darkroom under red light using screens precisely angled to prevent moire patterns. As much as I love the speed and precision of the amazing software that made my skills obsolete, there’s something to be said for that faintly imperfect look. Pop art celebrated the then-lowly arts of graphic design and popular culture advertising. These patterns nod to the low-tech past. And clearly, scale matters with such cheeky designs. (FYI for those who may not know, Myosotis is the beloved Forget-Me-Not)
